Tikhat Mithachi Puri (Spicy Puri)

Tikhat Mithachi Puri in Marathi

Time: 30 minutes
Makes: 20 to 22 Medium sized Puris

Ingredients:
1 cup Wheat flour
2 tbsp rice flour
2 tbsp Besan
2 tsp hot oil
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp red chili powder or to taste
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
Oil to deep fry puris

Method:
1) In a mixing bowl, mix wheat flour, besan and rice flour. Add Salt, red chili powder, coriander-cumin powder, and turmeric powder.
2) Add 2 tsp very hot oil into the flour mixture. Mix well. Add water and Knead to make a stiff dough. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
3) Heat oil into a kadai. Divide the dough into 1 inch small portions. Shape them in round balls. Roll the balls into semi thick circles. Deep fry them over medium-high heat.
4) While frying, use a slotted spoon and carefully splash some hot oil on the surface of puri to help it puff. Fry them until they get golden brown color on both sides.
Remove Puris from hot oil and put them on a tissue paper to remove excess oil.
Serve them hot. Puri tastes good as it is. These puris stay good for 2-3 days, hence it can be a good snack option while traveling.
